How Did I Get Here?

10 on Tuesday

Oh dear me, has it really been since MARCH 7th that I posted a blog update?

Good. Night. Nurse. 
How am I supposed to get better at this?
Maybe set a schedule?
hmmmmmmm

Ok, to make it easier on myself, I decided to do a 10 on Tuesday post.
10 random thoughts for this day.

1. Harrison now says Hew-wo (hello), aw-wight (alright) and oh noooooo!! daily. It's adorable and I need to get it on video. Post haste. 

2. His current obsession is Wall-E. This is his typical pose while it's on: 
 

3. Jon's been battling a stomach bug. He feels somewhat better tonight. So what did he want for dinner? PIZZA. Go figure. 

4. Connor's been battling allergies. This is our first experience with them... apparently it's one of the worst seasons for allergies - EVER. He's coughing and sneezy and the worst part - has big, puffy, itchy, red eyes.

Poor pathetic mess. This was last Friday, after he took a shower to alleviate the itchiness in the eyes... the whole time he was in there, he fussed and whined "why did God invent allergies??". I have no idea, sweetie. He's taking zyrtec and has prescription eye drops - they seem to be working right now.  

5. On a high note, Connor jumped on his two-wheeler Saturday night and just took off. This after a good amount of falling off and frustration the week before. He said to me before he hopped on - "Mom, I gotta try, because if I don't I'll never do it". Smart kid. And yet something else I need on video. 

6. Yankee Candle brought back my favorite scent: Storm Watch. This makes me very happy. 

7. The next Sookie Stackhouse book comes out in 2 weeks. This makes me very very happy. 

8. I'm now 4 months in to the "new" job and it's safe to say I made the right choice. I'm very much loving it. The work, the people, everything. And guess what? I'm plenty busy. 

9. We are working on planning a beach vacation with one of my favorite families and this makes me very very very happy. 

10. If you're looking for a good cookbook with tasty, yet healthy meals, Jon and I wholeheartedly suggest: Cooking Light: Fresh Food Fast - we've been using this cookbook since last summer and have not been disappointed by one recipe.

Ok! that's 10 on tuesday.
I hope to be back soon. Like in days... not weeks. 

I Couldn't Resist...

I bought this tonight:

So freaking cute.

Lately I've been:
-Indulging in Starbucks decaf iced mochas - it's one treat that doesn't seem to drive up my sugars. And I love them :)
-Feeling a TON of pressure and sometimes pain in my pelvic area/pubic bone... so much so that I'm walking like an old lady. I am the object of much mocking.
-Craving pasta. Darned gestational diabetes.
-Counting the days till my maternity leave starts.
-Really into the olympics this year. I think part of it is because I want Connor to experience it. And he definitely is. He's been pretending to be a swimmer, a gymnast and a volleyball player - and that was all today.
-Looking forward to my anniversary dinner with Jon. We'll be doing our traditional Hyde Park steakhouse. Steak Woody, here I come.

I promise I will have  a belly pic soon.
Tomorrow, we hit 36 weeks.
Gotta mark that milestone.

Cheestastic Movie

First up, simply because it's on tv right now and entertaining me, the movie "Music and Lyrics" with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. Not the best movie... but a most amusing movie. The faux 80s videos are worth the price of admission. See for yourself: 

 

Love it. Love that the "other member" of the group is the kid who plays Jason Street on Friday Night Lights. I may need to download this soundtrack.

So You Think You Can Dance.

I. LOVE. THIS. SHOW.

It's one of the few tv highlights of my week, now that we are in the summer tv season.

It's full of talented dancers!! and the choreography is just amazing...

Not to mention, when it's on, Connor dances like a maniac... I really need to get some of his dancing on tape... he seriously tries his best to imitate the dancers.

Oh! and I've learned to love contemporary dance...

especially anything that Mia Michaels choreographs...

she always has a story to tell.

The most ridiculous part of the day was the bird noises we made everytime we talked about the "Operation Falcon" story in our newscasts. CAW!! CAW!! I do miss her working all day with me :)

Lot's o' stuff happening over here at Casa De Gleason.
So I'm making a list of Random.

Got a box of goodies today.
Just what the doctor ordered to get rid of a case of the Mondays.

A big box of MAC makeup.
A lot of it is boring (foundation, brow set, mascara)...
But I got a couple of pigments, some new gel eyeliner and a couple of lipglasses.
I am a girly girl.
And I'm thinking I need more pigments.

Jon bought paint today - he is devoting the next three days to project family room.
Painting, moving out furniture, installing our new tv.
I can't wait.
I am getting closer and closer to my cozy family room.

The fam is coming in to town for a weekend trip.
And a dinner with Jane is in the process of being scheduled.
The only bummer here is that Tammy will be out of town.... so our foursome will not be complete :(

Found out today that my niece, Alex, has a bizarre physical issue that I had when I was her age.
It's nothing horrible, but definitely not fun to fix.
My mom is always saying she's me, all over again.

When they found out - My sister called me today and said: "Yeah, she should be your daughter"
Then my Mom called and said: "She's your little replica".
If that holds true... I will tell her not to date skater boys and keep her out of TV news.

New Tunes

Typically, I don't download a whole album blindly...
But I did this past weekend, and I don't regret it!
Little Voice - By Sara Bareilles is amazing.
I love "love song" and "bottle it up".

I also downloaded the Class of 3000 soundtrack for Connor.
He LOVES Andre 3000.
Do you think this has something to do with the fact that I listened to The Love Below throughout my entire pregnancy? perhaps.

Veggie Booty

I got great pleasure and giggles out of making my very straight-laced anchor (Jerry) say "Veggie Booty" on air monday night. What was even better was seeing Andrea next to him, off camera, doubling over with laughter at the sound of him saying "Veggie Booty".

Sometimes, being a producer is all about making people do some pretty silly things.

Hello Random!

So Jen tagged me.
Says I have to name 7 random things about myself.
I am all about the random... but tell me I have to name 7?
Then I start to panic.
Let's see here.

1. I really really really want to get my nose pierced. Just a teeny little non-descript safe for a mother of a three year old stud.
2. I am judging you by the state of your eyebrows and your pedicure. I can't help it. I am hyper-critical of eyebrows and pedicures. I know I've mentioned that here before. And those of you who know me in person already know this.
3. I don't eat fish or shrimp. It's a texture thing.
4. When I started Ohio State, I wanted to be a radio DJ. So I took broadcast classes, since that was the closest thing to it.
5. My first taste of rap music was in 8th grade... when I bought Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill and Run D.M.C. - Raising Hell ... I think my grandma thought I was crazy.
6. My first album I ever purchased was Prince - Purple Rain in the 6th grade. I had no clue what
   "Darling Nikki" was about - Thank Goodness.
   
7. When I get home from work, the first thing I do is put on my PJs.

Lots to do, Lots to do

A little random, but I've got a lot of ground to cover here.
Ok... first off, let's check the google countdown:

SWEET... 3 days until vacation. HOWEVER... I am faced with a pretty decent sized to do list:

eeeeeeek!
Let's just say, that's giving me nightmares right now.
And I pray our bags don't tip the scales at check in.

Tina and I were talking this afternoon about navigating the airport, with 4 adults, 3 kids ages 1,2 and 3, 3 bags, 3 car seats and probably 4 carry on bags. God give me strength.

My plan for today was to pack. Brilliant, right? WRONG. Jon's sleeping. He worked last night. Which means I can't get into my room to PACK ANYTHING. Genius!!

Uncomfortable

Boys, just stop reading now... because this will make you squirm.
So why was I home today? I had my uncomfortable sonohystogram to check my uterus. WHEEEE!!

I had one before we had Connor, so I knew what to expect. Lots of discomfort. Jon went with me, bless his heart... I had to take 800 milligrams of advil before I went, and had to start taking antibiotics. The whole goal of the test is to get a good look at my uterus, to make sure there is nothing that would cause a miscarriage, like my c-section scar...

So the doc started to talk about the test and asked if I wanted anesthetic. Me, being an idiot, said no. Until he got to the part where he said: "ok, I'm going to clip your cervix, you're going to feel a pinch, let me know if it's too much"... Then I said "let's get the anesthetic."  I then got two shots "down there"... which made Jon completely proud of me and scared of me at the same time. BWA HA HA.

In the end... everything checked out. The old uterus is good.  I do need to get some more blood drawn to check more hormone levels. FUN.

My G-chat girls (Gabby and Lisa) decided to be silly, and sent me a picture of a happy uterus:
WHAT IN THE HECK!!?? I don't know how Lisa found a picture of a toy uterus on a piano!! Who made this? And why?!?!?

It does make me giggle :) Just the fact that Lisa took the time to find this and make me smile amid my cramping and recovery :)

So thank you girls!!

Is officially my and Jon's anniversary. August 16th. 9 years.  I'm so very happy to have him in my life.

Old Friends

It seemed like it was "old faces at 10tv day"

An old producer bud of mine stopped by with his fam on the way to Cincinnati... SO good to see him. So good to hug him, have him ask how I'm doing and look me straight in the eye. Like he really wanted to make sure I was doing well... and not giving the cursory answer. He's good people. A little nutso... a lot of funny... and a big heart.

An old director bud of mine also stopped by for a special we're airing this weekend. This director broke me in when I was a green lil producer girl. He totally rolled with my punches... and when there was breaking news? Oh he was SO CALM. I'm wondering if he didn't help me be a calm producer.

New(ish) Friends

THEN... Miss Gabby introduced me to Gmail Chat. Oh boy. Can't do that too much... or there will be no more job for Missy. And that would be bad. Considering I have bills to pay :) You can check out Lisa's Blog to see a pretty funny screen capture. I'll have you notice my little icon shows that I am BUSY :) because, well, yeah, I'm at WORK.

The Cryfecta

Most of you don't know this about me. Unless, of course, you work with me. I have a little mantra that I say... on a hourly basis. It's a bit of a whine... and I perfected it when I worked weekend mornings. It goes a little something like this:

I'm cold... I'm tired... I'm hungry.

Tony, my super-quick-with-the-funnies coworker, dubbed it the Cryfecta. And well... it kind of stuck.... Today I came into the control room doing a little clogging. YES. Missy-style clogging. Which means I was just clacking my mules on my feet against the control room floor. Tony asked if I was the lord of the dance... to which I replied "Now Tony, You know I have no coordination." And he shot back: "Oh yeah.. and the stage would probably be too cold... and you'd be tired... and hungry too." Silly inside jokes bring a huge smile to my face.

Am I INSANE?

I decided tonight that I need to make Jon a father's day album. Am I insane? I'm thinking yes. Well... it's not a big fat album.... it's more like a little kolo 6 page accordian album. Tonight I printed out the pics... and tomorrow night, I'm going to bust it out. (See angie? I'm scrappin!). I also stopped tonight and got Jon his official "gifts" for father's day. Can't post them here... because sometimes he actually reads this thing. :P

Ok.. here's a little sample of what's making me nod my head ;)

Cheyenne Kimball - "Hanging On (Unplugged Version)" Looks like Little Miss Cheyenne has her own show on MTV. I actually just noticed it's on right now. I do love this song. It's just a good acoustic, chick singing, great message song.

Any Wonder - "Images of Me" oooh I just discovered this one tonight. Sounds like a good movie make out scene song. Just listen... tell me I'm not crazy ;)

Eminem - "Shake That" Thank you, Jay... for making me watch this video. Because now I can't get this vile song out of my head. WHY does eminem have to be so gross? It's so not right that I like his music... if Connor talked like this when he was a grown man, I'd smack his mouth.

Stefy - "Chelsea" My favorite out of this bunch. The song starts off totally like Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" ... and the lead's got a voice a little like Gwen Stefani (and we all know how I feel about Mrs. Rossdale)... and they're from Orange County... just like me and Gwen. So HOW COULD I NOT LOVE THEM? The album is due August 29... soon after my trip back to the OC. KICK ASS.

Angels & Airwaves "The Adventure" I don't know why.. but this song just SOUNDS like summer to me. Love it.

Friday is Almost Here!
