This week's Photo Friday theme is Violet. Not that hard for my little brain. Violet. Not like last week's theme- COMPLEX. That one had me stumped. I had nothing for it. But Violet? That I can do. Just a simple pic of one of my irises from in front of my house this past May. I almost chose a picture of one in full bloom... but I like this one better.
This week's Photo Friday theme is Attractive.
And I could think of nothing more Attractive than my husband, holding the son he hoped and prayed for, for the first time. (At least the first time I could get it on film- seeing as how I was the one having the C-section).
This week's Photo Friday theme is SILKY. I could only think of Connor's Curls.
Actually, the first things I thought of were the little silky blankies that Olivia and Isabel carry around with them- but alas, I have no pictures of the little blankies.
So my next thought was: "what is silky in MY house?" Short of taking pictures of my underwear drawer- which I'm sure some scary people would get a kick out of- I came up with Connor's curls. They are so silky- I wish my curls had the softness that his do- but I am an old woman- with locks weathered by hair dye and bed head products.
This week's Photo Friday theme is CANDID.
I took this picture of Connor and his cousin Kyra just about a month ago at my Mom and Stepdad's. I really like it, because it looks like Kyra's trying to tell Connor a secret, and I love how the setting sun gives them a warm glow. I'm quickly learning that sunset is my favorite time to take photos. It just feels so other-worldly.
These two had been playing ALL afternoon, with their cousin David. Connor has no pants on, because it was just too hot outside. Kyra's got Chee-toh residue all over her skorts, and I had looped her braids up while we were playing earlier. I love all the little stories behind one picture.
So there you have it- a totally CANDID moment between cousins.
Alright. This week's Photo Friday theme is ORANGE.
I took this picture of Connor last September in South Carolina. It's another one of my favorites. I went through all of my existing pictures, looking for something that said ORANGE to me. I had a lot of ORANGE pictures... but this one just takes my breath away. So there you have it. Connor in ORANGE swim trunks.
For those of you who frequent this blog, you know what this picture is. And this week, it's my entry for Photo Friday. The theme this week is SPORT.
This is a picture of my husband in battle of the badges, a fitness competition for police officers. What you DON'T see is there is an ambulance attatched to the rope around his waist, and two other guys pulling it with him. But I love the "crossing the finish line" part of this photo. So there you go.
I couldn't think of anything "artsy" to shoot for this week's Photo Friday theme. So I decided to think of the nerdiest thing about myself... and that would be my love for Buffy. A love so strong, I have ALL SEVEN SEASONS on DVD. I know, my coolness factor just dropped, like, a THOUSAND points.
So I saw a post on Colleen's Blog about Photo Friday and decided to check it out. I love it. So I took this week's challenge.
The word is "symbol". I was going to do my wedding ring, but that felt very obvious to me. So I took a picture of our door knocker. It's a claddagh symbol. Before Jon and I got married, we both wore claddagh rings. Here's the meaning of the symbol:
"The Royal Claddagh ring is today worn by people all over the world as a universal symbol of love, loyalty, friendship and fidelity, and of their Irish heritage.
For love, we wear the heart. In friendship, we wear the hands. And, in loyalty and lasting fidelity: we wear the Royal Claddagh crown."
Jon and I both have Irish blood in us. So we find it fitting. The door knocker was a wedding gift. Whenever we move, I plan to purchase a new one for our new home.
