How Did I Get Here?

It's madness around these parts.
MADNESS, I say!!!

I'm home for the time being.
Going to be a little late to work.
The Conman is coughing.
Raspy, hacky, throaty cough.
So I'm staying home until reinforcements can get here.

I had Monday off for my birthday.
We were supposed to go to the pumpkin patch.
But 90 degree weather DOES NOT make pumpkin patch weather.
So it was a no go.
Instead I just spent the day with my boys.
Enjoying some time off.

What did I do this weekend?
Finished knitting some socks for Jonboy.

not bad. They were my first attempt at toe-ups.
Interesting way to knit :)

As soon as those were finished, I cast on for my next project.
The Montego Bay Scarf from interweave knits.
I'm knitting it in Handmaiden Sea Silk in Sangria.
It's GORGEOUS.
The colors are so pretty, and the yarn is so so so soft.


I keep doing little mess-ups... but it's so darned holey, it's hard to notice.
I'm also knitting this more like a wrap and less like a scarf.
I doubled the width, and I'm thinking I won't be adding the fringe.
:)

In other news, we're counting down to New York.
Last night, I sat in bed, not being able to sleep, trying to figure out what the heck I am going to say when I go to accept. Everything I think of sounds LAME. I hate speaking in public!!

Off topic completely, have you seen the video of Gwen with the Pussycat Dolls?
Totally not her typical tomboy stuff, that's for sure.

Meet Squarey

I knitted squarey for Connor.
It pretty much got me the award for COOLEST MOM EVER, at least in his eyes.

On My Labor Day Weekend I...

  No computer time = Missy knits a lot!

And I actually got upstairs on the computer for two reasons...
1) Jon is riding his motorcycle with the neighbor daddy
2) Connor is next door playing with the neighbor boys

So I have a few things to share, as promised.
First up, ye olde anniversary gift:

Mr. Gleason has outdone himself. I said no gifts. He agreed. He lied.
Then he says "hey! just imagine what you're going to get for 15 and 20 years!"

Finally got him blocked this weekend.

I've been diligently working on this sock for the past two evenings:

It looks crazy cool on. I love it. Can't wait to finish the pair.
I cast on for my second Gabby sock.. but she's patiently waiting for Bellatrix to leave the needles.

Big doins at the Gleason house.
Jon bought a new car.
He turned in his big bad Chevy Silverado and got....
a RED '08 Impala.
He's very excited.

I like the xm radio, the dual climate control, the heated leather seats...
and ESPECIALLY the aux jack for the ipod.
No more icarplay cable and tuning into a static station.
Color me jealous.

Connor likes the fact that it has Radio Disney on XM.
Plenty of high school musical and hanna montana songs to go around.

I'll see if I can get a picture this weekend...
I'm too tuckered after work to walk outside in my pjs and take a pic.

Gabby wants to see the sock I was working on while with her.
I have now named it my Gabby sock.
Because the colors remind me of her hippy granola tie-dyed self.
And I started knitting it to take to her house, since I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate on a pattern while talking to her... I made it simple simple simple:

I've also started the Bellatrix socks...
but I haven't gotten very far... since I don't trust myself to knit it and not screw it up when Connor is awake (he's such a distraction!!).

He's finished.
Cast off Sunday night.

Tomorrow, I will be off to see Gabby  for a long overdue, much needed girly trip.
Just me. No Jon. No Connor. Feels strange to be leaving the boys. I haven't done this in so long. But I am looking forward to it oh-so-much.

So what else has been going on here?
I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last weekend.
wowza.
I loved it.
A lot of people had issues with the cheese-factor in the epilogue... but I like cheese.
So it made me happy.

Many many many new yarn acquisitions.
I think I'll be laying off that business for a spell.

Named for the Harry Potter character... Bellatrix LeStrange. How could I NOT make them?
The Wollmeise in Sonne is destined to be Fawkes socks.... again named after Dumbledore's phoenix. Yup. more Harry Potter themed knit items. Finally, the Sea Silk in Sangria, I hope, will turn itself into a lovely Montego Bay Scarf. Wish me luck.

Boo Hiss

I have made 2 booties for baby Ellie.
I am not pleased with the results.

Can you SEE the gaping hole? Oh my, it's pissing me off.
I have sent out the distress signal on ravelry.
Hopefully someone there will have some advice.
And seriously? They knit up quick.
A couple of hours for one.. supa dupa fast.
So Jane- I may not have these for you Tuesday- but I will not let the booties beat me!!

To help ease my pain, the UPS man brought me Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows....
Then to put the icing on the cake, the mailman brought me these:

Connor is going to nap - then we are off to Miss Emma's  Birthday-Beach Party!!
And speaking of birthdays... my lovely sister Tina turned 31 yesterday. Happy birthday Tina!! and remember- no matter how old you feel - I will always be the old lady :)

Took a break from from the Gwen/ND lyrics-- went with a little Killers.
And because Tammy wonders if she should know the songs I'm quoting, I'm going to start naming the songs - Today's title is brought to you by The Killers - "Smile Like You Mean It" .

Now on to the meaning of the title.
Oh boy.
Connor Red is starting to look like a big boy.
The baby fat is being left in the dust.
He's got the cutest messy flippy hair that makes me think he looks like a little surfer dude.

He's getting so big. I swear, he thinks he's 30 years old... not 3.
Jon and I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Sunday night...
when we were on our way home, after we picked up Connor at my sisters, we hear from the back seat:

"Mom, Dad... How was your movie?"

We had to fight the chuckles on that one...
Then we got home, I was checking the messages, Jon was letting Chance out, and Connor flipped on the lights in the family room... I told him thank you and I get this reply:

"My pleasure, mom."

Oh my. You are kidding me.
He's got a million of them.

We had dinner last friday... Miss Jane, Aysu, and Tammy . We went to Figlio... that was some good eatin... and even better company. We had to get in one last dinner before Jane has that little sweet pea!
