Last year I promised myself I would read more, because at the end of 2008 I had realized I read MAYBE 2 books that year... thanks to goodreads, I was able to keep track and see all of the books I read last year. 20. And there's definitely a theme here... hmmmmm...

Boy... One Day You'll Be a Man...
Took a break from from the Gwen/ND lyrics-- went with a little Killers.
And because Tammy wonders if she should know the songs I'm quoting, I'm going to start naming the songs - Today's title is brought to you by The Killers - "Smile Like You Mean It" .
Now on to the meaning of the title.
Oh boy.
Connor Red is starting to look like a big boy.
The baby fat is being left in the dust.
He's got the cutest messy flippy hair that makes me think he looks like a little surfer dude.
Just look at mr. big:
Do you see what I mean?
He's getting so big. I swear, he thinks he's 30 years old... not 3.
Jon and I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Sunday night...
when we were on our way home, after we picked up Connor at my sisters, we hear from the back seat:
"Mom, Dad... How was your movie?"
We had to fight the chuckles on that one...
Then we got home, I was checking the messages, Jon was letting Chance out, and Connor flipped on the lights in the family room... I told him thank you and I get this reply:
"My pleasure, mom."
Oh my. You are kidding me.
He's got a million of them.
Where My Stitches At?
Ok Brookie-B.
You want a chevron update?
You got one:
I'm at 49 inches.
chugga
chugga
chugga
ALTHOUGH...
senor chevron will be on hold for a bit...
why?
I have some deadline knitting to take care of.
Think I can make a pair of angora booties before Baby Ellie comes along?
one week. I have less than one week actually... because THE YARN FOR THE DARNED BOOTIES ISN"T EVEN HERE YET!!
We had dinner last friday... Miss Jane, Aysu, and Tammy . We went to Figlio... that was some good eatin... and even better company. We had to get in one last dinner before Jane has that little sweet pea!

Irony
I must admit, I get confused when you talk about irony. The reason for this is the debate that happens in my workplace when someone uses the word. More often than not, someone will pipe up and say: "Is that irony? Or just coincidence?"
So I might say that this little post is ironic... but I'm not really sure. You be the judge:
As mentioned in a previous post, I'm reading A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. I started it this weekend, and I'm halfway through. But I have to admit, with all the controversy surrounding the book, I find myself thinking, as I'm reading: "is this part true? is this part embellished?"
There is one part, already, that struck me as funny. Ironic, even: He's in rehab, and he's talking about going to a lecture given by a rock star who fought his way back from drug and alcohol addictions. (I can only assume he's talking about Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, because he talks about the man's famous lips... and I know Tyler was pretty darn vocal about his recovery from addiction around the same time Frey's book takes place.) ANYHOW... he's talking about sitting in the lecture, and scoffing at everything the rock star says. Why? Because the rock star talks about taking 40 pills to sleep at night, and taking 5 thousand dollars worth of drugs everyday, and Frey comments that that kind of abuse would kill ANYONE... so he becomes annoyed with the speaker FOR EMBELLISHING HIS DRUG ADDICTION.
Now I ask you this... apparently, Frey embellished a little jail stay in his book... said it lasted months, when in reality, it was probably more like overnight. He also admits to stretching the truth to make his "bad side" seem a little more bad-ass.
Is that irony? I don't know. But it's pretty darn funny to me. And just a tad hypocritical- maybe.
But you know what? I'm still reading the book.
